Optimar at Vietfish 2025: Humane processing for better seafood
This week, a team from Optimar is in Vietnam for a packed program combining installation work and training staff on using the stunners, customer meetings, and participation at Vietfish 2025 – one of Asia’s largest seafood exhibitions.
A highlight of the visit is that Optimar has been invited to present at VASEP’s conference – the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, which represents 95% of the country’s farmers and exporters.
Here, Sales Manager Aquaculture, Mårten Jørgensen - will present how electric stunning provides a rapid and humane process that improves both fish welfare and product quality, while also supporting sustainable and efficient seafood production for the future.
Did you know that:
-
Norway produces around 1.3 million tons of salmon each year.
-
Vietnam produces around 2 million tons of Pangasius and is the world’s third-largest shrimp producer (1 million tons annually).
-
Vietnam is now investing heavily in Barramundi, often called Asia’s “new salmon”. They are said to become Asia’s new ‘salmon producer’ through Barramundi, a fish from the Latidae family known for its flavorful, moist, and succulent texture, considered one of the world’s finest-tasting fish.
As demand grows, seafood producers face increasing pressure to deliver products that are high-quality, traceable, and responsibly processed. This is exactly where Optimar can support the industry.
For the people, the fish, and the future
At Optimar, we believe technology should serve more than efficiency – it should create real value for people, fish, and the future.
-
People – By providing safe and efficient systems, along with training for local staff, we make everyday work easier and help producers strengthen their reputation in the global market.
-
Fish – With electric stunning, fish are rendered unconscious instantly, reducing stress, ensuring humane treatment, and preserving the natural quality of the product.
-
Future – As demand for seafood grows worldwide, traceability and responsible processing are essential. Optimar’s solutions support producers in meeting these demands while contributing to a sustainable food supply chain for generations to come.
